Grass Carp are an important addition to the Lake Gerry Preservation plan. Grass carp are known for the ability to consume weeds from the bottom of the lake. Grass Carp are a non-native species that are purchased from a hatchery that are unable to reproduce in lakes (they require rapidly moving water).
Lake Gerry can support several hundred Grass Carp, so over the next several years we are trying to build up a population that will be effective at controlling the weeds in the lake while not harming our fishery.
The price for each grass carp ranges depending on the season and the amount we purchase.
